Big River Running Company to Become Presenting Sponsor of Health & Fitness Expo
For Popular GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend
ST. LOUIS (MO) – August 31, 2010 – GO! St. Louis, a not-for-profit organization that specializes in presenting fitness events and programs, announced today that it has reached an agreement with St. Louis-based Big River Running Company to become the presenting sponsor of the annual Health & Fitness Expo, which is held in conjunction with the GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend, set for April 9 & 10, 2011. The sponsorship agreement runs through the 2013 event.
“Big River Running has supported our organization and specifically the marathon weekend event over the last few years on a volunteer basis, so its community-minded spirit matches perfectly with our community wellness mission,” said Nancy Lieberman, GO! St. Louis president. “I’m excited that we have reached a formalized three-year sponsorship agreement with one of the top running stores in the country, while further enhancing the participant’s expo experience, ” she continued.
The sponsorship includes developing a line of GO! St. Louis official marathon merchandise through national brand Brooks, which will be sold exclusively in the three St. Louis area Big River Running stores and online. In addition, GO! St. Louis will provide 2011 participants in the marathon, half marathon and marathon relay with a Brooks performance shirt as part of their entry in the field.
“We are very excited to be aligned with the largest weekend of running events in the
State of Missouri,” said Big River co-owner Ben Rosario.
Since 2007, Big River Running Company has been honored annually at the Independent
Runner’s Retail Association Conference, as one of the top 50 Running Stores in the Country. In 2010 the St. Louis Development Corporation named Big River the “Neighborhood Business of the Year,” and in 2008 the Riverfront Times selected Big River as the “Best Running Store in St. Louis.”
The Health & Fitness Expo presented by Big River Running Company will be held on April 8 & 9, 2011 at the Chaifetz Arena and will attract an estimated 30,000 people. The GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend is Missouri’s largest fitness event and attracted a record 23,000 registrants last year. The event includes 10 different races for all ages and fitness levels. Registration for the 2011 event opens on September 1, 2010.
