New Half Marathon Added to The Great GO! St. Louis Halloween Race — Riverfront Course Revealed

Halloween Race 2013The popular Great Halloween Race, set for October 13 now has a half marathon distance. This 5th annual race also includes a 10K, which is Missouri’s largest, a 5K and a 1-Mile Fun Run. One of the most exciting features is the new race course, which was designed to showcase the riverfront. Here’s your chance to run in the shadow of the Gateway Arch and along the Mississippi Riverfront. Hurry, registration is now open, and capped at 2,500 for the 13.1 distance.

Registration Opens for 2nd Annual All-American 5K & Fun Run — Fastest 5K in St. Louis Returns

All-American 5K & Fun RunThe 2nd Annual GO! St. Louis All-American 5K & Fun Run, presented by ABC 30 is set for June 16. This summer-time race, sold out last year and has been capped at the first 2,500 participants. If you are looking for a fast 5K course, this is it! The race starts in Kirkwood and finishes in Webster Groves. The top three in every age group receive an Apple Pie.

Aaron Braun and Mattie Suver Break Half Marathon Records - Awarded $10,000 for Top Prize

2013 Half Marathon winnerApril 7, 2013 - Aaron Braun crushed the men's half marathon record in the 2013 GO! St. Louis Half Marathon - presented by PNC Bank. Braun, 25 from Flagstaff, AZ, posted a 1:03:13, which earned him the $10,000 top prize. Mattie Suver, 25 from Colorado Springs, CO took the women's title, with a 1:12:22, also a new course record. In the marathon event, Geoffrey Kiprotich from Sylvania, OH set a new record with a time of 2:20:00, while Autumn Ray from Tuscon, AZ was first on the women's side, with a 2:51:28. The GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend, which is Missouri's largest fitness event, attracted more than 25,000 participants in 10 different events. Full Results

Family and friends can track a participant’s progress throughout the marathon and half marathon races, by signing up for free text alerts, emails, Facebook and Twitter. Still Time to Register for the 13th Annual GO! St. Louis Marathon Weekend

Only a few days remain to secure your entry into Missouri’s largest fitness event. The 13th Annual GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend, set for April 6 & 7 will attract more than 25,000 participants. Entries are still available in the Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K, Children’s Fun Runs and the Mature Mile. The Marathon Relay sold out at 600 teams in January. Online registration closes at midnight on March 31, and will reopen at the Expo for walk-ups on April 5 & 6. Register

 
GO! LOUIS ANNOUNCES ELITE FIELDS FOR 2013 HALF MARATHON - Major Prize Purse Attracts Top American and International Athletes

The elite athlete field for the 2013 GO! St. Louis Half Marathon presented by PNC Bank has been released.This year’s race features a top prize of $10,000, the fourth-largest such award among half marathons in the United States. Vying for that prize will be a top-notch field of professional athletes including 1:10 half marathoner Maegan Krifchin, who leads the women’s entries. Aaron Braun, 1:02 half marathoner and Matt Llano, headline the men’s field. Joining Llano in the men’s race will be his Team USA Arizona teammate Danny Mercado as well as past GO! St. Louis champions Daniel Kirwa (2012) and Josphat Boit (2011) from Kenya. Also expected to challenge for the half marathon title will be American Craig Curley, fresh off an 18th-place finish at the USA Cross Country Championships held in St. Louis on February 2. On the women’s side, the 24-year-old Krifchin will have to battle veteran marathon star Tera Moody, who finished sixth at this year’s Chevron Houston Marathon. Top international entrants include Ethiopia’s Hirut Guangal who was second at the 2012 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and Kenya’s Sarah Kiptoo who has run 1:14 for the half marathon. American Mattie Suver, who will run for Team USA at the World Cross Country Championships on March 24, is also expected to contend. Top Half Marathon Prize Money Increased to $10,000

One of the new features for the 2013 GO! St. Louis Marathon Weekend is a substantial increase in prize money for the popular half marathon race - presented by PNC Bank, The top men’s and women’s winner in the half marathon will each receive a $10,000 top prize, while second place receives $5,000 each and third place $2,000. Total prize money for one of the Midwest’s largest races was increased to $47,000, including a $1,000 bonus for a new course record in the marathon race. The $10,000 half marathon prize is one of the largest awards in the United States, only three other races (NYC Half Marathon, Garry Bjorklund Half and Aramco Houston Half) currently have awards that equal or exceed the value. In addition, the Elite Athlete program has been expanded to include more competitors from around the world.

Thousands Enjoy 4th Annual GO! St. Louis Halloween 10K, 5K & Fun Run

St. Louis most festive race drew thousands of fun-loving participants, as the rain held off for the 4th running of the GO! St. Louis Halloween 10K, 5K & Fun Run. Thanks to all of the participants, volunteers and community partners for their support. Congrats to Kevin McNab for winning the 10K race with a time of 31:14, and Hilary Orf, who captured the women's 10K title with a time of 35:54. GO! for a Cause Program Raises $366,000 for Local Non-Profits

The GO! for a Cause charity program helped 20 area charities raise $366,700 for their causes as part of the 2012 GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend. The program debuted in 2010, and continues to expand with new charities and opportunities for official partners to increase fundraising and visibility for their cause. The 2013 program will expand to accommodate 30 charities. Since the program’s inception, more than $861,000 has been raised for a variety of local charities.

2013 Marathon Weekend Entry Fee Prices Set to Increase on November 1

Online registration for the 13th Annual GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend opened in early September, and is currently ongoing. Matt O'Connor and Jackie Pirtle-Hall Capture All-American 5K Titles

All-American Women's 5K WinnerMatt O'Connor, St. Louis, captured the GO! St. Louis All-American 5K title, with a time of 14:37. Jackie Pirtle- Hall, the 2012 GO! St. Louis Marathon champion, won the women's division with a time of 16:36. Other top finishers included: Benson Chesang, 14:48 (2nd Men), Mike Aitken 14:57 (3rd Men), Margaret Lyons, 16:57 (2nd Women) and Lisa Carey, 17:18 (3rd Women). More than 1,500 runners and walkers competed in the inagural running of the event, which started in Kirkwood, MO and finished in dowtown Webster Groves, MO.

On Your Mark, Get Set, Name that Hill!

Name that HillYou’ve heard of Bunker Hill, Heartbreak Hill, Capitol Hill and Beverly Hills, but did you know there is a famous hill right here in St. Louis? The thousands of runners who have participated in the GO! St. Louis Marathon , Half Marathon or Relay, tell the tale about the challenging hill between mile 6.25 and 8, along Olive Street. This year, we are planning a host of special promotions to brand and recognize the challenging hill, in an effort to encourage participants to “embrace the hill” as a fun part of the overall race experience. Runners, St. Louisans and Hill Naming Aficionados can participate by submitting their suggested hill names through email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or through the Official GO! St. Louis Facebook page. From the submissions, a GO! St. Louis Committee will choose the infamous hill’s new name. The contest starts on August 8 and runs through August 22.

Soulard Neighborhood Captures Cheer Zone Award for Second Consecutive Year

Neighborhood Cheer Zones 2012The Soulard Restoration Group was voted the top Neighborhood Cheer Zone at the 12th Annual GO! St. Louis Marathon Weekend. The award was confirmed after marathon participants were asked to select the top zone in a post-race online survey. The Cheer Zone program was expanded this year to include five official non-profit neighborhood associations, which included: Central West End Association, Skinker DeBaliviere Community Council, Loop Special Business District, University Heights Sub Division No. 1 and Soulard Restoration Group. Each neighborhood received an initial $1,000 donation from GO! St. Louis to be used for neighborhood projects, while Soulard received an additional $1,000 for winning the award. Details

 
Julius Kosgei and Jackie Pirtle-Hall capture 2012 GO! St. Louis Marathon Titles

2012 Marathon Female Winner

Julius Kosgei from Searcy AR captured the men’s marathon title today with a time of 2:28:38. Kosgei was followed closely by Jerry Faulkner from Edmund OK who finished with a time of 2:28:53, while third place went to Magnus Holmstrom from Jefferson City, MO. On the women’s side, Jackie Pirtle-Hall from Saint Charles, MO set a new women’s marathon record with a time of 2:42:03, besting the old mark by 9 minutes. Beth Woodward from Orrville, OH was the second place female with a time of 2:59:11. The 2013 Marathon Weekend is set for April 6 & 7 with registration opening on September 1, 2012.

12th Annual GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend Set for This Weekend

GO! St. Louis Marathon

The 12th edition of the popular GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend, is set for this weekend - April 14 & 15. The event is Missouri’s largest competitive fitness event, with more than 25,000 total participants.  The Marathon Relay, 5K and Mature Mile are sold out, but spots still remain in the marathon, half marathon and children's fun runs. If you would like to regsiter for one of these events, please visit the Health & Fitness Expo on Friday or Saturday. Online registration closed on April 6. Parents may register children for the Fun Run the morning of the race at the event site, but there is no race day registration for the marathon or half marathon.
